Part II
Disclaimer: Im getting really sick of writing these for every story, so see part I. NOTE: from now on, if the story ends and italic words are at the bottom, that is NOT part of the story, but a note from me. I sort of figured youd know that, but just in case
"Vegeta?" asked Bulma, stunned.
She had been planning for Vegeta to see her, but she had not in any way planned for what he did.
Vegeta stood there all right. And her towel did fall off, just as planned, but one thing was wrong. Very wrong.
There in the hall, along with Vegeta, stood Goku, Gohan, Chichi, Krillin, and Piccolo.
"Nice try woman," Vegeta said. He smirked. "Look, I guess telling you to shut up whenever you fight with that idiot boyfriend of yours, Yamcha, wasnt enough. Didnt it ever hit you that I could hear every word said from out on the balcony on the other end of the floor? Saiyians have far better hearing than you humans. That means that every whispered word you said when you were planning what to do sounded crystal clear to me. I should have just avoided this hallway all day, but I thought it would be fun to bring over a few of your friends."
Bulma was stunned. She was about to scream her lungs out, but decided not to.
"Excuse me," she said, wrapping the towel back around her and praying that Vegeta hadnt told them the details of what she was going to do. "Ill be right back. Why dont you guys get something to eat downstairs?"
With that, she walked calmly around the corner. The second they could no longer see her, she frantically ran the rest of the way back to her room. As soon as she was inside, she slammed the door shut and fell on her bed.
"How could he do that?" she asked herself. "I always knew he was mean, but I never thought that he could pull such a terrible trick."
She got dressed. It was obvious that she had been wrong. Vegeta didnt have any feelings for her whatsoever. She had been an idiot to even think it. Accompanied only by her depressing thoughts, she went downstairs to face her "guests."
"Umm, hi guys," Bulma said nervously as she entered the room.
"Hey, Bulma!" said Goku in his usual idiotic tone.
Bulma sighed. It was apparent that Goku had either not been able to understand the situation, or his horrible memory had forgotten the incident at the mention of food. She wasnt so lucky, however, with the others. Piccolo stood silently against the wall, not caring what went on. Gohan sat with an almost identical look as his fathers. Chichi had hidden him behind her as soon as they saw Bulma. Krillin was as red as you can get. He had been standing in the front of the crowd. Chichi had a look on her face that plainly said "If you dont call and explain when I leave, Ill force it out of you."
"Listen, guys. I hope that you enjoyed the food, but I really should be starting dinner, and my mother and father dont like guests now that they have a new invention. So I guess Ill see you later!"
Once everyone was gone, Bulma looked around. She hadnt noticed it before, but Vegeta wasnt in the room. In a blind rage, she flew out the door to the one place she was sure he would be, the GT.
"Vegeta!" she yelled as she banged open the door to the room. The only reason that she wasnt crushed was Vegeta sensed her coming and turned off the gravity before she got to the door. This didnt stop him, however, from yelling at her for it.
"What kind of idiot are you? Youre lucky that I sensed you coming or you would have been crushed!" he yelled.
"Why on earth would you care?" Bulma replied. "And anyway, thats not important. How could you have been so cruel? I always knew you were mean, but I never thought you would do something like that!"
"Honestly, Woman, I found it rather amusing," replied Vegeta calmly.
"Oh, I see, so you find amusement in humiliating others? Or maybe youd like it more if I died! Would that be funny?!" screeched Bulma.
"Would you just shut up, Bakayarou!" yelled Vegeta, who was beginning to get annoyed.
"Oh yeah? Well why dont you make me?" Bulma retorted. In her anger, she was completely oblivious to what she had just said. Vegeta, however, caught the words the instant they left her mouth.
He turned to her. The emotion in his eyes was stronger than it had ever been before. The only difference was the emotion in them wasnt rage.
"So you want me to shut you up, Woman?" he asked.
Bulma backed up against the wall, thinking that she had just challenged Vegeta to kill her. Vegeta silently laughed at the fear he saw in her eyes. He drew closer, and she drew back as far as she possibly could. She was now looking at the ground, no doubt preparing for the end. Vegeta silently lifted her chin. Then, not sure himself of what he was doing, he placed his lips on hers.
Bulma was in shock. One minute, she was up against the wall, preparing to die. Then the next, he was kissing her. Both Vegeta and Bulma were in their own little piece of heaven as Bulma overcame the shock and returned the kiss. Vegetas hands slid from her face down to the small of her back. At the same time, Bulmas hands glided up to his neck. The kiss was long, deep, and passionate.
Then, just as quickly as it had happened, Vegeta broke the kiss.
"There, Woman, I shut you up," he whispered, and returned to his room.
Bulma stood in her lab, working on building a new beauty beam. Or rather, she was supposed to be working on it, but her mind was on something else. Vegeta had become almost like a drug to her. The more time she spent with him, the less she could think of anything else. To make matters worse, she still had no idea if Vegeta really liked her or not. Sure, he had kissed her, but he did hear every part of her plan too. He could have just been taunting her. Plus, ever since that kiss, he had completely ignored her.
Bulma sighed. As much as she didnt want to believe it, she was sure it was true. Vegeta had just been taunting her, showing her what she could never have. But that kiss, she was sure he had meant it. She was sure that he had wanted her as much as she wanted him
"No!" she yelled at herself. Believing that Vegeta liked her would only cause her more pain and suffering. Nevertheless, every day that went by she missed Vegeta more and more.
Vegeta wasnt having the best time coping with the situation either. He had thought that he would only kiss that woman to taunt her, just enough so that she would miss him when he was done. Instead, he had held the kiss, completely forgetting his plan.
"I must be getting soft. I cant allow this to happen! I cant let that Baka onna get to me!" he thought.
He fired another ki-blast and let it hit him with full force. It hardly made him budge. He tried to resume training, but that woman kept invading his thoughts, he couldnt get her out of his mind no matter how hard he tried.
Just then, he remembered something, a quote that Bulma used to say to herself every time she broke up with that idiot, Yamcha. Without thinking, he recited it aloud to himself.
"Its hard to tell your mind to stop loving somebody when your heart still does."
Slowly, silently, Vegeta walked down the hall. He didnt know why he was doing this, but he was sure it was right. He saw the light at the end of the hall, her room. He knew she would be furious at him for intruding, but he didnt care. Plus, he didnt think she would care too much either once he knew why he was there.
As he approached the door, the same thoughts came to him that had come to Bulma as she prepared to let him "catch" her without a towel on. He had to do this now, now or never. With only this thought fueling him, he opened the door.
Sure enough, Bulma saw him and immediately flipped out.
"Vegeta! What are you doing in here you pervert! I was getting changed!" she yelled.
Vegeta hardly heard any of this. Just as he had done three nights before, he silently approached her. Just as she had done three nights ago, Bulma backed up to the wall, the fear once again in her eyes. She looked at the floor.
Once again, Vegeta drew closer and lifted her chin. This time, when he kissed her, he had no intention of stopping. Once again, Bulma was in shock, but soon returned his kiss. She had been wanting this to happen as much as he had, and they both knew it.
At that moment, Bulma didnt care why Vegeta was doing this. She would think about that later. Tonight, she would just savor this moment. After all, for all she knew it would never happen again. That thought in mind, she let all worries about this leave her and concentrated only on Vegeta.
Like Bulma, Vegeta didnt know or care why he had done this. For the first minute or so, his mind was still in control. It kept telling him to push Bulma away. End this now, before its too late. This was a serious blow to his pride, and his mind wouldnt let him forget it. It didnt matter though, because tonight, he ignored everything but her.
The next morning, Bulma stood in the kitchen, humming. She was in the best mood ever. Vegeta had been so gentle with her last night, so kind, and most of all, he had started it. Just when she was sure that he never loved her at all, never thought of her as anything more than the little weakling who builds his training room and makes him dinner, he did this. Surely after last night, he would be kind to her, especially since she was the only one in the house besides him.
She finished making his breakfast, enough to feed about ten normal people, and set the table, humming the entire time. She ran upstairs and changed into a light summer dress, then ran back down to find Vegeta sitting at the table, half the food already gone.
"Good morning, Vegeta!" she said in an unusually cheerful voice. To her surprise, Vegeta looked up at her, his usual frown on his face.
"Whats so good about it woman?" he growled.
"Well youre in a bad mood today," said Bulma, who hadnt yet given up.
"Listen, woman, I dont know if you hit your head or something, but you are beginning to scare me with that attitude. And whats more, I always act like this." Vegeta snarled back.
"Well, yeah, but people dont always act like that in front of the girl they made out with last night," Bulma replied. Vegeta went a very bright shade of pink.
"Listen woman, I dont know what youre thinking, but last night meant nothing, so forget about it," Vegeta replied.
Bulma was stunned. Deep down, she knew that this should be no surprise to her, but it didnt matter.
"Excuse me," she said, and slowly walked upstairs in a daze.
Vegeta watched her go. He felt an enormous surge of guilt at the fact that he had crushed her like this, and it shocked him. He had never felt like this before. He had never felt guilty about anything, and that was something big when youve murdered thousands. He gave an exasperated sigh. No matter how much he denied it, he was getting soft, and it was because of her. The strangest part of all though, was he didnt mind at all.
