After watching an ever-growing number of villians and ne`er do wells come dangerously close to using the Dragonballs for evil, Kami-sama knew that he had to do something. Hiding the balls would be useless, due to the existence of several "Dragon Radars" and the balls could not be destroyed unless he died. The only sensible solution was to appoint "guardians" to watch over the balls. There was just one problem, there weren't seven warriors strong enough or pure enough of heart to take on the responsiblity. At least not yet. So Kami-sama waited for them. When Goku was sixteen, Kami-sama deemed that it was finally time. Over the last year he had watched Chikyuu carefully, waiting for seven particular children to be born and now he had them. With Goku tagging along, Kami-sama went to the home of each child to form a link between them and the ball they would protect. Even scattered across Chikyuu, much like the Dragonballs, each child would "know" where their ball was and bear the number of stars their ball had on their right shoulders. Originally, Kami-sama intended to train them together when they turned sixteen, but unexpected trouble brought them together at age seven. Unusually intelligent, abnormally powerful, and each posessing high-level psychic abilities the Guardians can be a little unnerving at times. Growing up together while balancing, school, a social life, martial arts, the occasional world-threatening crisis, and their duties as Guardians occasionally gets to be a little much but they get through it together. They have a signature attack called the "Guardian Energy Blast" wherein they steeple their index and middle fingers in front of their hearts, gather their ki and release it into a powerful beam that ends in a ball with their Dragonball's number of stars in it. They also have the ability to give their ki to someone else and can make their ki resonate and increase between one another. Tied directly to the Dragonballs their strength increases slightly when the balls are active and decreases when they are inactive. |
